These days, digital signage for universities is a big deal. As universities try their best to streamline the whole education process, digital signs are becoming ever more relied upon for everything from offering infectious disease warnings to telling students where they should go for their exams. Here are just a few ways that Universities can use digital signs to improve each student’s higher education experience.

  1. Table of Contents

    • Give Instructions to University Students
    • Promote Events That Occur Within the University
    • Sell Advertising Space to Local and National Companies
    • Give Students a Little Digital Entertainment Within Congregation Areas
    • Arrange Students During Events and Exams

Offer News and Updates to Staff Members

Teachers and professors should obviously be told personally or via a hub messaging system if they are needed in certain classes. However, university professors often need to know where others are located at any one time, especially if certain rooms are required, or if people are working together on projects. Digital signs could show staff members where other members are, and they could be used to help book up certain rooms and equipment. They could also tell staff members about late-in-the-day changes because staff members may not check their messages often enough on the university messaging hub.

  1. Offer News and Updates to Students

There are all sorts of news that could be offered, from telling students about new groups and teams that are starting up, to promoting current team sports and groups. Students may also be informed about where they can buy books or the discounts that are being offered in the university store. It may even offer housing information and other university life updates. News and updates may include things like:

  • Grades or test results
  • Who got into which sports team
  • Who got which roles in plays
  • Which people may use certain rooms
  • When exams are happening
  • When dissertations are due
  1. Give Instructions to University Students

Students may learn where different areas are. Interactive maps are very popular when freshmen students turn up. It helps teach students where things are located and what times lectures start. It may also help students acclimatize to the way things work in the university, from not running in the halls to being unable to vape on university grounds.

  1. Promote Events That Occur Within the University

There may be big sports events coming up that the university could promote, and perhaps the university has a theater where they put on plays. Perhaps there are sponsorship days, career days, and outdoor events that are happening within university grounds. Also, if the institution has a good relationship with the surrounding area, then perhaps local events may be promoted on the university’s digital signs.

  1. Sell Advertising Space to Local and National Companies

Companies are always looking for ways to promote their stuff to students. Instead of allowing promoters on the grounds, and instead of allowing people to hand out leaflets, the university could ban all types of promotion on the grounds. If companies want to get information to the students, then they have to buy space or time on the digital signs. Not only does this help drum up more funding for the university, but it also helps the university control what is promoted to students.

Predatory credit card companies are also keen to advertise to students, and their impact may also be reduced if all outside advertising is banned except through approved and paid advertisements on digital signs.

  1. Give Students a Little Digital Entertainment Within Congregation Areas

The great thing about having digital signs as opposed to regular TVs is that the university can control content and advertising too. This is good in the communist method of controlling what students see and are influenced by, but also has other perks, such as being able to add university information in between shows. It also means that during an emergency, the signs can be quickly changed to display emergency information, such as if there is a gas leak on floor 5, or if the lunchroom will be closed because of a broken oven.

  1. Arrange Students During Events and Exams

With the use of digital signs, students can know exactly where they should be going and where. Rather than having posters up, students can be told a variety of different things with just one sign. They can be told several places where they should go, and they can be told times and exam duration. The signs could literally point the direction to different rooms and exams in order to quickly funnel students off to the right places.

Specific instructions could be given with each sign, from what to bring to exams, to things like procedures for manual, physical, or practical exams. Plus, with the use of digital signs, you can be sure all students are getting the same information. Students are less likely to miss things on a visual video display than they are when they are told by people or when they are reading things from a poster. Plus, you can loop your videos so that a brief but detailed instruction video can be seen by many.
